MHA is a Los Angeles-based boutique design house led by founder and senior principle designer Michael Hong. With global clients and award-winning world-class resorts, MHA has become recognized as a visionary leader of inspiring design. Known for their expertise in planning and design for large hospitality and mixed use venues, MHA believes that memorable design starts with collective passion. The diverse team at MHA brings unique backgrounds and specializations that promise to create an unforgettable experience.
Human beings have always sought to gather to exchange culture, commerce and ideas. The world's great enduring city centers are designed with functionality and aesthetics in mind; marketplaces meander into streets filled with cafes, shops, and attractions that engage and satisfy visitors at every turn. Michael Hong honors this tradition with the art of placemaking, creating unique environments that become signature spaces. His deep understanding of this shared human desire for community has resulted in enormously successful projects that truly inspire people.
Hong's vision for immersive design is radiantly on display at the recently opened luxury resort “Bahamar” in Nassau, Bahamas, as well as Wynn Encore in Las Vegas and Macau, to name a few. Hong is currently engaged as Master Planner and Principle Designer on an epic mixed use project, Le Jardin d’Eau Riyadh which is about to transform Saudi Arabia. Other highly anticipated projects include the Anabella Hotel in Anaheim and the Wynn Everett Hotel and Casino in Massachusetts. MHA, the LA-based design company that he founded in 2004 is the embodiment of a new interactive design experience.
Drawing from his multi-cultural heritage as a Korean American, the L.A. architect infuses his designs with emotion and intuition. An expert at solving complex programmatic requirements, Hong masterminds projects from concept to completion. The trademark of his brand is balance; the seamless co-exist between nature and architecture. Hong's signature vision is rooted in the space where iconic design and modernism meet; he adroitly complements contemporary design with a master's attention to detailing and expert craftsmanship.
