Encore at Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2008. The client, Steve Wynn, approached Michael Hong to once again enhance the luxury resort experience in Las Vegas. The team decided to expand on some of the successes of their earlier concepts on full display in Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas, but raise the sophistication level a notch through the use of even finer materials in perhaps a more understated way.
Encore relies on the elegant use of beautiful natural materials in simple sculptural forms. Integrating layered trellage panels with lush landscaping creates a magical play of light and shadow which adds to a sense of mystery and romance. There are exuberant splashes of color in the mosaics and sculptures which help the transition from the refined exterior to the more vibrant interior. The interior lobby is richly landscaped and bathed with natural light pouring through suspended trellage panels, the design is cohesive inside and out.
Encore total 4,600,000 sq ft, offering 2035 luxury suite accommodations, 7 restaurants, 11 retail spaces and a 65,000 sq ft night club and 70,000 sq ft spa. Despite opening into difficult economic times the hotel has been enormously successful, in no small part thanks to the rich and sophisticated design.
