Grand Opening December 2008
Encore at Wynn Las Vegas opens this holiday season 2008. The client Steve Wynn approached Mike Hong to once again enhance the luxury resort experience in Las Vegas. Expanding on some of their earlier concepts key to the success of Wynn Las Vegas, the new hotel relies on an elegant and understated use of beautiful natural materials in simple sculptural forms. Integrating layered trelliage panels with lush landscaping creates a magical play of light and shadow. There are splashes of hot colored mosaics and sculpture which help the seamless transition from the refined exterior to the more vibrant interior. The interior lobby is richly landscaped and bathed in natural light pouring through suspended trelliage panels the design is cohesive inside and out.
Built as separate properties, Encore will be connected to the existing Wynn resort via the public areas. The new high-rise portion of Encore will offer over 2,200,000 SF of deluxe accommodations including 2,034 luxury suites. The public spaces will include 7 dining outlets, 11 retail outlets, a 64,000 SF night club, European and American styled pools, and a generously sized 70,000 SF salon and spa facility. Total project square footage is approximately 4,600,000 SF.
Despite opening in difficult economic times, Encore?s simple majestic grandeur and rich design will undoubtedly entice and succeed.
